Homemade Body Scrub

Body scrubs work to exfoliate dead skin cells from the body to soften the skin and give it a fresh, youthful glow. But why do we have to pay for commercial body scrubs whice are expensive, and contain unhealthy chemicals additives? When you can find the scrub ingredient and make the body scrub yourself at home.

Here’s how to use natural ingredients to make a homemade natual body scrub that will leave your skin feeling refreshed, and silky smooth.

Milk and Honey Body Scrub

• 1/3 cup of salt
• 1 tablespoon honey
• 1teaspoon olive oil
• 1 tablespoon milk

- Mix all ingredients together.

- Stand in the shower and turn the water on briefly to dampen the skin.

- Turn the shower off and then gently massage the scrub on your body using an upward circular motion. Once you’re finished applying the milk and honey body scrub to the skin, turn the shower on and rinse it off.

The salt in this milk and honey body scrub recipe provides the exfoliating properties needed to remove dead skin from the body. Honey is a natural humectant that attracts and retains moisture. Olive oil is a natural way to soften and moisturize the skin. And milk soothes and nourishes the skin. When these ingredients are combined they make an excellent scrub treatment for the body.

The homemade milk and honey body scrub can be placed in and airtight container and stored in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.

Almond Anti-Cellulite Scrub Recipe

• 1/2 cup coffee grounds, fresh (the caffeine from coffee is a common ingredient in commercial anti-cellulite treatments)
• 1/2 cup sea salt (available in bulk section of natural foods and grocery stores)
• 1/2 cup coarse brown sugar (or a combination of 1/2 white cane sugar and 1/2 coarse brown)
• 1/2 cup sweet almond oil
• 1/4 tsp. pure almond extract (optional just for fragrance)

- Mix all ingredients in glass bowl, adding more oil or more salt and sugar, depending on the desired consistency.

- Add more almond extract, if desired, for stronger almond scent.

- Store in refrigerator in a glass or plastic container with lid (a used container from a store-bought scrub works well)

1. Scoop out about a tablespoon or so of scrub, and gently but firmly massage in a circular motion on areas affected by cellulite.
2. Allow the scrub to sit on the skin for up to ten minutes.
3. Rinse off with warm water, and moisturize.
